Stefanie Hays is a speech-language pathologist originally from New Orleans. She obtained her master’s degree from Louisiana State University, where she completed a thesis on experiences in vocal handicap among diverse populations.
Stefanie has a special interest in feeding, swallowing, voice, and motor disorders. Her experience as a selectively mute child allows her to bring a special perspective to treatment, as she can remember what it was like to be a child who was unable to communicate effectively.
Prior to joining the RightStart team in 2015, Stefanie worked as a speech-language pathologist in both public school and hospital settings. When she isn’t at RightStart, Stefanie can be found camping, hiking, and writing. You also might be able to spot her at Dragoncon (if you can recognize her under the costume!)

Debra has been a Speech/Language Pathologist for 38 years. She received her BS.Ed. from the University of Georgia and completed her Master’s Degree at Georgia State University. Debra holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. She is also a member of the Georgia Speech-Language Hearing Association and is licensed by the Georgia State Board of Examiners. Debra began her career working in several public school districts serving students ages 3-21.
This experience has afforded her the opportunity to work with children with Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Emotional/Behavioral Disorders, Swallowing and Feeding disorders as well as children who have needed AAC as a means for functional communication. Later, she branched out and began working with the Birth-3 population serving little ones in their homes, daycares and preschools. Currently Debra is involved with ongoing training and using Oral Placement Therapy Techniques. Oral Placement Therapy (OPT) uses a hierarchical based approach to improve speech clarity and feeding skills in individuals of all ages and across diagnoses
Debra has been with Right Start Therapy Services since 2013.
In her spare time, Debra enjoys traveling with her husband, playing tennis, pickleball, learning to play golf and traveling.

Maria Lindsey is a certified licensed speech-language pathologist and has been with RightStart Therapy since 2013.
She received her undergraduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Georgia in 2002. She received her Master’s degree from University of Georgia in speech-language pathology in 2004.
Maria became a speech-language pathologist because of her love and passion for her family members with Fragile X, Cerebral Palsy, Williams Syndrome, and Fragile X Tremor and Ataxia Syndrome. She worked in Gwinnett County Public Schools for 10 years where she worked with a variety of disabilities.
Maria is married with a daughter, a son, and 2 dogs! She enjoys spending time with her friends and family, watching sports, and furthering her education in speech-language pathology.

Margaret received her Master’s of Education in Communication Sciences and Disorders from The University of Georgia. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech-language pathology granted by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a Georgia Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.She currently works with both children and adults in the private practice, acute care, and inpatient rehab settings. Margaret has experience working with a diverse population of children and adults with Autism, developmental delays, genetic syndromes, learning disabilities, neurological disorders, and brain injuries.Margaret has been with RightStart Therapy since November 2018. In her free time, she likes to spend time with family, friends, and her dog. She also enjoys being outdoors, traveling, and exercising. Margaret is passionate about continuing her education in all areas of speech-language pathology to better serve her patients.

Lindsay is a certified licensed speech-language pathologist and joined RightStart Therapy in 2020. She received her Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from The University of Georgia in 2019.
Lindsay holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and is licensed by the Georgia State Board of Examiners for Speech-language Pathology. She has previous clinical experience in pediatric outpatient rehabilitation, acute care treating geriatric patients with aphasia and dysphagia, and in public schools serving various communication needs.
Lindsay currently works as a speech-language pathologist in a public elementary school in Athens while also treating patients at RightStart Therapy. In her spare time, she enjoys exercising and traveling with friends and family.
M.A., CCC-SLP and Clinical Manager of RightStart-Athens
Ashley has been a speech-language pathologist for over 10 years. She received her bachelor’s degree from Emerson College in Boston, and her master’s degree from San Diego State University. She is originally from Massachusetts. Ashley has experience in a variety of settings including pediatric private practice, hospitals, home health, skilled nursing facilities and schools. Ashley is the clinical manager at our RightStart Therapy Athens location.
Ashley holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and is licensed by the Georgia Board of Examiners. Ashley is certified in AmpCare’s Effective Swallowing Protocol (ESP) which utilizes neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) to create a more effective and effortful swallow exercise. Her special interests include feeding and swallowing, alternative and augmentative communication and pragmatic language disorders.
When Ashley is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and two dogs. She likes running, yoga, hiking, cooking and reading.
